Day 3 and all is well. Needless to say it has been a GREAT start to a very big dream of mine. Lots of friends stopping by to wish me well. Very nice. Sold lots and lots of things and even made a few new friends, as well. It's great to see my neighborhood take interest in all the goings on. It is a wonder how much networking can truly do to bring customers into the store. Hopefully I can do the same for all the other small business' here, like Paper Tiger Coffee, Petals Floral Shop , Glitterada Hair Studio and Igloo. So this plate here in the photo is a Dimson Homma collectors edition plate. They are made in New York and are very nice to hang on your wall or place on a table, as I have done here. I currently have 6 different ones in the shop and they are priced at $75 each. Come take a look because they are cool. I promise more photos of the store as soon as I can catch my breath.........Bye

Wednesday, Wednesday, Wednesday....
Hump Day, yippeeee....................one more day closer to the soft opening of COTTAGE.
People have been stopping by everyday to take a peek inside, even though it isn't finished yet, but that's the pleasure of it all. You are all welcome to come on over and see what's going on, give me some pointers, etc. Advise is always welcome.
So, I have 1500 postcards coming to spread out around town. If you are so inclined I would love to hear from those of you who would allow me to leave some postcards at your places of business to spread the word for me. Just drop me a note here or on Facebook. Thanks in advance.
The gardener is going to plant new flowers in the window boxes. Always a nice addition to the outside view of the store. That's another thing that is so great about this shop....I don't have to maintain the flowers or plantings, just water them.
Terry from Vintage Station came by this morning with her mother, who lives in this neighborhood. It was great to see her and meet her mom. Neighbors from other business' have been dropping by as well.
This is going to be fun...........I'm having a blast.

Fulfilling a lifelong dream....my own store.
Like many of you out there, I have my own secret list that I keep of things that I want to accomplish in my life. One of those is owning my own store someday. Well, I am here to announce that I have decided to do just that, open my own store.
Now let's be honest. Is this a risk? Yes, most definitely it is. Am I being crazy? Just alittle bit. Do I plan on sleepless nights in my future? Most certainly. But this thing about owning my own business has been with me forever. It's like a itch that just will not go away. So......I scratched!
I must, however, tell you why I have chosen to do this at this particular time. Someone made me an offer that I just could not refuse. Really.....the situation is one that does not call for a long term commitment if it does not prove to be financially worth it for me. I can walk away at anytime if I choose to do so. With all that said, I would be crazy NOT to do this. The person who owns the building my shop will be in has always had a vision of a retail shop going into it. She owns lots and lots of property in this area and would like very much to see her dream for part of Vancouver become a reality. So, I am going to give it a go and hope that I can make it successful.
As things progress, I will post to this blog pictures and thoughts on how the business is going. Be sure to visit back for details on the opening.
