Holiday Hours At Cottage Vintage Home

Starting tomorrow, November 15, the hours at the shop will be 11 to 5 Tuesday thru Saturday.
This will continue up until Christmas Eve, December 24.

Please be sure to call me at (360) 721-9980 if you would like to shop on a Sunday or Monday when I am closed.  If I am in town I will be more than happy to open the store for your shopping convenience.

Now that the hours are settled, let me tell you about our open house and guest dealer day.  Well, Alex from Attic Antics came to setup her European wares for the day and, boy, was it fabulous.  She sold lots of her items and my shop had a super day, as well.  People were everywhere.  Shopping and having a wonderful time.  First time and returning customers were all mingling together enjoying the holiday atmosphere of my shop.    A great day was had by all.

If you have not yet visited my shop, please make a date to come soon.  Merchandise chages everyday almost with additions of new and vintage items being added.  We would love to see you.

Open House November 10th

Now most of you know that I have a shop called COTTAGE and it is located at 2819 East Evergreen Blvd. in Vancouver, Washington.

Once you see it, it is very apparent why I chose the name.  Cute little place with lots of flowers and greenery.  Small and inviting, my shop is a true reflection of why I love vintage and anything French.  There is lots to see, some eclectic, some traditional but all of it is fun and reasonably priced.

Now for the good stuff.  This Saturday, November 10th we will be not only be having an Open House but Alex from Attic Antics will be here selling her treasures from Europe.  France, Belgium, Germany, Holland, etc. she's got alot of stuff and she will have it here for you to buy.

So please make a date to be here with us this coming Saturday for a day filled with treasures and treats ( sweets and things, of course).  I would like to meet you and welcome you to my shop and hopefully you will find it a great shopping experience and you'll want to come back again and again.

See you Saturday.........................:)

L & W Estate Sales......Shout Out

My friends at L & W Estate Sales are the best.  Not only do they treat their customers right but they go out of their way to conduct their business with integrity and professionally.

Lynne and William have done many estate sales that I have had the good fortune to go to.  Not only have they been the best of all the estate sales I have attended but they are organized, easy to shop and so fun.

I do want to share with all my blog readers, a huge sale coming up later this month that L & W Estate Sales is conducting.  It will be held in Lake Oswego with tons and tons of stuff for sale.  There is a large farm and a house on the lake that will be choked full og merchandise.  This one should not be missed.

So keep watching my blog and my Facebook page for the address and more information on this spectacular sale.

Life Has Been A Circus, of sorts.....

Well, here I am tired and happy that Barn House went soooo very well for me this year.  That being said, I am having to step away from the Camas Vintage Faire because I do not have as much merchandise as I would normally have and I always want to put my best foot forward at these shows.  So I made the decision today that I will NOT be a dealer at this year's Camas show.  This breaks my heart but I feel it is the best thing to do under the circumstances.

So if there is anyone who has been wanting to do that show, please contact Sarah Voss from Roost Reimagined to talk with her about my vacated spot.

On with the circus.......................

But please be sure to stop by my shoppe, COTTAGE, if you are coming thru Vancouver on the day of the show.  I will be open 10 to 4 with all types of goodies and fresh pieces, as well.  Hope to see you all at my shoppe.

PGE PARK....neon letters for sale

This past weekend I was given the opportunity to see the original PGE PARK neon letters that were taken down.  All 7 letters, in all their glory.  And guess what?  They are up for sale!!!!!

Now those of you with big enough shops or a customer who has a huge loft or something would naturally be the ones that could envision these up and lit.  How great would that be?!

Anyway, if there are any interested parties out there in blogland, please drop me an email or ring me because these are historical and will not last too long.

Have a great day....................

Wednesday, June 6, 2012

Well, here we are, 2 weeks into the store and I am having a heck of a time.  How great it is knowing that I can come and go as I please, to a certain extent anyway, and not feel guilty.  What a feeling. But, I'm not going to lie to you, there are nights that I worry just about everything.  How do I get more customers in the store, what type of ads should I run, are my hours alright.  You know, all the small things.  But I can confidently tell you that it all is falling into place very nicely.  Merchandise is filling the store almost daily and I can't wait to get a few newly purchased pieces to put in the shop. If you have not already been here, please stop on by for a look.  Most of you are familiar with my style and the shop is filled to the brim with more of the same.
Have a great day.....................

Day 3 of COTTAGE

Day 3 and all is well.  Needless to say it has been a GREAT start to a very big dream of mine.  Lots of friends stopping by to wish me well.  Very nice.  Sold lots and lots of things and even made a few new friends, as well.  It's great to see my neighborhood take interest in all the goings on.  It is a wonder how much networking can truly do to bring customers into the store.  Hopefully I can do the same for all the other small business' here, like Paper Tiger Coffee, Petals Floral Shop , Glitterada Hair Studio and Igloo.  So this plate here in the photo is a Dimson Homma collectors edition plate.  They are made in New York and are very nice to hang on your wall or place on a table, as I have done here.  I currently have 6 different ones in the shop and they are priced at $75 each.  Come take a look because they are cool.  I promise more photos of the store as soon as I can catch my breath.........Bye

Wednesday, Wednesday, Wednesday....

Hump Day, yippeeee....................one more day closer to the soft opening of COTTAGE.

People have been stopping by everyday to take a peek inside, even though it isn't finished yet, but that's the pleasure of it all.  You are all welcome to come on over and see what's going on, give me some pointers, etc.  Advise is always welcome.

So, I have 1500 postcards coming to spread out around town.  If you are so inclined I would love to hear from those of you who would allow me to leave some postcards at your places of business to spread the word for me.  Just drop me a note here or on Facebook.  Thanks in advance.

The gardener is going to plant new flowers in the window boxes.  Always a nice addition to the outside view of the store.  That's another thing that is so great about this shop....I don't have to maintain the flowers or plantings, just water them.

Terry from Vintage Station came by this morning with her mother, who lives in this neighborhood.  It was great to see her and meet her mom.  Neighbors from other business' have been dropping by as well.

This is going to be fun...........I'm having a blast.

Fulfilling a lifelong dream....my own store.

Like many of you out there, I have my own secret list that I keep of things that I want to accomplish in my life.  One of those is owning my own store someday.  Well, I am here to announce that I have decided to do just that, open my own store.

Now let's be honest.  Is this a risk?  Yes, most definitely it is.  Am I being crazy?  Just alittle bit.  Do I plan on sleepless nights in my future?  Most certainly.  But this thing about owning my own business has been with me forever.  It's like a itch that just will not go away.  So......I scratched!

I must, however, tell you why I have chosen to do this at this particular time.  Someone made me an offer that I just could not refuse.  Really.....the situation is one that does not call for a long term commitment if it does not prove to be financially worth it for me.  I can walk away at anytime if I choose to do so.  With all that said, I would be crazy NOT to do this.  The person who owns the building my shop will be in has always had a vision of a retail shop going into it.  She owns lots and lots of property in this area and would like very much to see her dream for part of Vancouver become a reality.  So, I am going to give it a go and hope that I can make it successful.

As things progress, I will post to this blog pictures and thoughts on how the business is going.  Be sure to visit back for details on the opening.
